Did anyone in your family serve on a submarine in the U.S. Navy? A Web site called "On Eternal Patrol" has been created to honor men lost while serving in the U.S. Submarine Force. The site includes listings of men and boats by era and a full name index containing more than 4,100 individuals for whom memorial pages have been posted. Passengers on submarines that were sunk are included also.
The creators of the site are currently seeking additional photos from family members to round out the history of 3,600 U.S. submariners lost during World War II. The point of contact is info@OnEternalPatrol.com (formerly at subvetpaul@aol.com), or you can visit the submission page.
Genealogy is like a jigsaw puzzle, but you don't have the box top, so you don't know what the picture is supposed to look like. As you start putting the puzzle together, you realize some pieces are missing, and eventually you figure out that some of the pieces you started with don't actually belong to this puzzle. I'll help you discover the right pieces for your puzzle and assemble them into a picture of your family.

Janice,
ReplyDeleteI am putting together a listing of American Jewish submariners who were lost in World War II. I am using Ancestry.com's online database "AJHS WWII Jewish Servicemen Cards, 1942-1947." If you or someone you know might be interested in assisting me with this project, please contact me at info@OnEternalPatrol.com.
Thanks again,
Charles
Charles,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the corrected e-mail address and for posting about the Jewish submariners project. Will that information be added to what you have already have for "On Eternal Patrol"?
Janice
My father Paul is now certified for hospice. We care for him in his home.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are able to care for him in his home. That makes such a huge difference for mental health. My best wishes to all of you.
