Genealogy is like a jigsaw puzzle, but you don't have the box top, so you don't know what the picture is supposed to look like. DeleteMy mom (Age 88) is still living; dad passed away in 2005. Mom said the ship was hit with huge waves coming over.

We arrived from Southhampton to new york city christmas eve. 1947 and our uncle met us and we drove to Buffalo New York that night..Through all the small towns that were lite up for Christmas it was beautiful and it was snowing which made it even more beautiful....

DeleteMy father, Arie Rothenberg, told me that he and my grandparents, Jacob and Charlotte Rothenberg, sailed into New York on the Marine Jumper in January 1949. I think he said they sailed out of Bremen. They had been in a DP camp in Germany. My grandmother's uncle in NYC served as their immigration sponsor to come here. I've been having difficulty finding a passenger list, though.

DeleteMy cousin was on board the Marine Jumper with his family when he was released from POW camp in Japan His family was in the Phippines and they picked up on the way home. They arrived in CA.

DeleteMy parents and my two oldest brothers sailed on Marine Jumper from Bremerhaven to New York April 7 to April 17, 1948. They appear on a list of Hungarian passengers for that voyage in the Aroldsen Archives, which follows all displaced persons in the American zone of Germany. My great-uncle, barber for NYC's Biltmore hotel, sponsored them. The tickets came into my possession.
