Events in My Family Tree: January 9

Last week my mother's death appeared in the list, and this week my uncle's does, which brings back memories of what a bad month January 1995 was.  When I started this exercise I hadn't thought about the fact that those dates were in January and would show up so soon.  But happy memories come back also, and it's good to commemorate their lives.

Births

Elizabeth Sellers, daughter of Paul Sellers and Elizabeth Hofmen, was born January 9, 1766, probably in Pennsylvania.  She is my 1st cousin 6x removed.

John Kunkle, son of Martin Kunkle and Susanna Mock, was born January 9, 1824 in Knox County, Ohio.  He is my 4th cousin 4x removed on my Sellers line through the Mocks.

John Murdock Allen, son of Cyrus Kunze Allen and Clara Barton Shinn, was born January 9, 1891 in New Jersey, probably in Bordentown, Burlington County.  He is my 4th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Allens.

Harry J. Sellers, son of Cornelius Elmer Sellers and Laura May Armstrong, was born January 9, 1913 in New Jersey, probably in Burlington County.  He is my granduncle, a younger brother of my paternal grandfather.

Evelyn A. Sawyer was born January 9, 1948.  She was married to Wayne Clark, my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line.

Thomas John Hoffmann was born January 9, 1990 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  He is my 4th cousin once removed via my Meckler line.

David Vaknin was born January 9, 1996 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  He is my 3rd cousin once removed through my Gorodetsky line.

Marriages

Henry Brunner and Mary Magdalena Sellers were married on January 9, 1753 in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.  Mary, daughter of Philip Henry Söller and Catharina, is my 5th great-grandaunt.

Valentine Thorman and Sarah Darstein were married on January 9, 1804.  Sarah, daughter of Abraham Darstein and Catherine Sellers, is my 2nd cousin 5x removed.

Samuel Millstein and Doris Danuff were married on January 9, 1949 in the Bronx, Bronx County, New York.  Sam, son of Nathan Millstein and Sarah Gordon, is my 1st cousin 2x removed through the Gordons.

Deaths

Thomas Githens died January 9, 1873 at the age of 81, possibly in Camden County, New Jersey.  He was married to Mary Gaunt, my 1st cousin 5x removed.

Florence Idabell Votaw, daughter of Millard Votaw and Ida May Fisher, died January 9, 1969 at the age of 50.  She is my 4th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line through the Votaws.

Alexander Gordon, son of Joe Gordon and Sarah Libby Brainin, died January 9, 1995 at the age of 77 in Miami, Dade County, Florida.  He is my granduncle, brother of my maternal grandmother.
