Events in My Family Tree: July 23

This is another of those juxtapositions I hadn't noticed until typing up the day's events.  My great-grandmother died on her son-in-law's — my grandfather's — birthday.  That must have been very difficult for my grandmother, who adored her mother.

Births

Thomas Githens, son of Alfred T. Githens and Margaret Middleton, was born July 23, 1844 in New Jersey.  He is my 3rd cousin 3x removed on my Gauntt line through the Githenses.

Oren Wilson Clark was born July 23, 1878 in Wabash County, Indiana.  He was the husband of Anna G. Gaunt, daughter of Lewis Cass Gaunt and Mary A. Kindlesparger, who is my 3rd cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Otto Uz Sample, son of George W. Sample and Hannah Gaunt, was born July 23, 1885 in Richvalley, Wabash County, Indiana.  He is another 3rd cousin 3x remoed via the Gaunts.

Abraham Meckler, son of Morris Meckler and Minnie Zelda Nowicki, was born July 23, 1912 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  He is my maternal grandfather.

Sylvia Diamond was born July 23, 1928 in Bronx, Bronx County, New York.  She was the second wife of Samuel Michael Brainin, son of Mr. Katz and Lena Brainin, who is my 1st cousin 2x removed on my Brainin line.

Charlotte Perlman, daughter of Abraham Sam Perlman and Stella Joffe, was born July 23, 1929 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  She is my 3rd cousin once removed on my Nowicki line through the Perlmans.

Cynthia Fay Gaunt, daughter of David Arthur Gaunt and Ruth Murphy, was born July 23, 1937 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.  She is my 6th cousin via the Gaunts.

Wayne Eugene Ellis, son of Russell Oliver Ellis and Irene Elise Carter, was born July 23, 1947 in Morristown, Morris County, New Jersey.  He is my 2nd cousin on my Gauntt line through the Ellises.

Louis Cohen was born July 23, 1974.  He is my 3rd cousin.

Deaths

Sarah Libby Brainin, daughter of Mendel Hertz Brainin and Rose Dorothy Jaffe, died July 23, 1963 in Miami, Dade County, Florida at the age of about 77.  She is my great-grandmother.

William Dale Schocke died July 23, 2017 in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana at the age of 89.  He was the husband of Ruth Ellen Hutson, daughter of Conner W. Hutson and Rosa A. Bultman, who is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons.
